My story
I came to Jesus reluctantly—
the same way I have come to many of the big moments in my life —
I dropped out of high school, never expecting to come back to learning, but I did. Years later, I held a Master’s degree and stood in front of classrooms of adults who reminded me of the person I used to be - restless, searching, sure they were too far gone for anyone to bother with. What happened between those two events is what I love to explore through my fiction. It’s a hunt for truth, belonging, family, and faith. It’s the constant longing to be known and the fear that we’d already wandered too far to come back.
Why I write
My stories live at the places where borders blur between cultures, between beliefs, between who we used to be and who we’re becoming. My characters are mostly women — and sometimes the men who love them— who have wandered far from God or who suspect there’s something on the other side of the doubt but aren’t read to call it by name yet.
